2008 World Championship Bracelet Winners

The 2008 World Series of Poker World Championship bracelet winners include a number of poker’s stars, as well as a number of relative unknowns.

World Championship events at the World Series of Poker have a buy-in of $10 000 and enjoy a certain prestige compared to other events with lower buy-ins of between $1 000 and $5 000.

In the Ladies’ competition, Svetlana Gromenkova triumphed in the Ladies World Championship No-Limit Hold’em event, earning $224 702.

Other Notable Bracelet Winners at the 2008 World Series of Poker

  • John Phan was the only multiple bracelet winner at the 2008 World Series of Poker, as he claimed his first two career bracelets. Phan won almost $435 000 in Event 29, No-Limit Hold’em, and just under $151 900 in Event 40, 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball (Limit).
  • Mike “The Mouth” Matusow claimed his 3rd career bracelet by winning the $537 857 first prize in Event 18, No-Limit 2-7 Draw with Rebuys.
  • Daniel Negreanu earned $204 434 and his 4th career bracelet in Event 20, Limit Hold’em.
  • Barry Greenstein won his 3rd bracelet in Event 26, Seven-Card Razz, earning $158 659.
  • Layne Flack picked up his 6th winner’s bracelet in Event 34, Pot-Limit Omaha with Rebuys, earning almost $578 000 and entering the Top 10 on the All-Time List of WSOP Bracelet Winners.
  • Vanessa Selbst was the only woman to win an Open Event bracelet at the 2008 World Series of Poker. Selbst earned just under $228 000 and her first bracelet in Event 19, Pot-Limit Omaha, at her 4th WSOP final table.
