The time it took for Juanda to claim the WSOPE bracelet set the record for a final table in the World Series of Poker, beating the previous record set by the 2005 $1,500 Razz final table by 3 hours.

Play began at 1:23 pm on Thursday and was not concluded until 10:34 am on Friday morning. In all 484 hands were dealt at the final table, breaking the previous record set in 2006 by 130 hands.

Four time WSOP bracelet winner, John Juanda, walked away from the event exhausted but about $1,5 million dollars richer. His achievement is remarkable, given the fact that he managed to turn his chip lead into a win despite the ups and downs he experienced in 19 hours of play.

At his lowest point Juanda was down by a margin of 7 to 1 in heads up play, but fueled by dozens of cups of English breakfast tea, pulled through to become the first American to claim a WSOPE main event bracelet.

The runner up in the event was Russian Stanislav Alekhin, one of two Russians in the final three.
